ALAMO – Fred C. Fischer, 83, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday at his home after an illness of many years. Mr. Fischer moved here from Indianapolis about 30 years ago. He was a retired general contractor. He was a member of the Yountsville Methodist Church. He was born July 5, 1884, in Burtonville, Ill., a son of Jacob and Alice (Ellison) Fischer. His first marriage was to Olive Eakes in 1916. On Dec. 29, 1924, he was married to Belle Jones. Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Cooper of Burmingham, Ala., Mrs. Martha Gruggs of Crawfordsville and Miss Alice Fischer of Rt. 7, Crawfordsville; four sons, Paul of Rt. 3 Crawfordsville, James of Rockville, and John and Dale of Rt. 1 Waynetown; a brother. Connelley of Greencastle; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two infant children, a grandson, a sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Hugh Dooley officiating. Burial will be in Alamo Cemetery.
